MIssions Conference at Union Grove Baptist Church

Sunday March 29th we ministered at Union Grove Baptist Church as a part of their Mission's Conference. Brother George Schlagel is the pastor of this local church. During Sunday School I presented our power point presentation of the WFBC and taught a Bible lesson, as well as preaching for the Morning Service. Following the morning services the church provided a delicious carry-in dinner for all who were present, followed by an early afternoon service. The Mission Conference will last through Wednesday, featuring various other missionary ministries.

Union Grove Baptist Church is one of the church ministries having a Christian day school. The Union Grove Christian School has an enrollment of about 100 students. Though a Christian school is a lot of work, it provides an important option for that church and area churches. Christian education is a great spiritual benefit to families all over our state and our nation. Thanks Union Grove Baptist Church and School for making this sacrifice of time and money for the cause of Christ!

Sunday Services at Maranatha Baptist in Phillips

Sunday March 22nd we were ministering at Maranatha Baptist Church in Phillips. Christian Markle is the pastor of this growing ministry. Brother Markle served for a period of time as Interim pastor while the church was seeking a new pastor, but he is now serving as the senior pastor of the church.

Carole provided a special offertory on the piano. I spoke in Sunday School presenting the work of the WFBC with the powerpoint and preached for both morning and evening services. It was a blessing to see the increase in this ministry and the outreach to their community.

Sunday at First Baptist Church of Monroe

On Sunday March 15th we ministered at First Baptist Church of Monroe. Pastor Matt Spoonhour is the pastor of this church. During the Sunday School hour I shared a Bible message and presented the ministry of the WFBC via power point. I also preached on "The Will of God" for the morning service. It was a blessing to see the church auditorium three-quarters full and to hear of plans for a new entryway and parking lot. Praise the Lord for his blessing on this local church ministry under the leadership of Pastor Spoonhour.

Two interesting things happened on Sunday morning in addition to the great services. While driving to the church three deer tried to outrun our van, and one of them wanted to get across the road real bad! While I was trying to get to the church in a timely way, I slowed down and let the deer get across safely. Upon our arrival at the church and while getting set up Pastor Spoonhour asked me if I had seen that the van had a flat tire. Apparently it had been losing air during our eighty mile trip and only went completely flat after stopping, since I had not felt any indication while driving. During the service a couple of MBBC students took off the tire and went to Farm and Fleet where the church purchased a brand new tire to replace the original that had been damaged. What an unexpected series of events! Thanks again to First Baptist Church of Monroe for a blessed day, lunch, a love offering and a new tire for the van. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Visit to Faith Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota

Faith Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota honored John and Sylvia Kallin on Sunday March 8, 2009 for 40-years of ministry in the Amazon Region of Brazil, Peru and Columbia. They were sent out by Faith Baptist forty years ago under the direction of Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. The special day featured a personal presentation by both John and Sylvia during Sunday School, followed by a video presentation during the morning service. Brother Kallin brought a message to close out the service. At noon the church provided a carry in dinner including all who were present for the service. The day closed out in the fellowship hall with a time of testimonies and closing words by Brother Kallin and Pastor Julian Suarez. In this day when many missionaries return after one or two terms, it is a blessing to see a forty-year ministry honored.

I served at Faith Baptist Church from 1972-1976 as assistant pastor under the leadership of Dr. Gerald Carlson. The day provided not only a time to see the Kallins once more, but also to get reacquainted with many friends from the past. Former pastor Charles Johnston who had served Faith Baptist previous to Pastor Suarez and for twenty years of the Kallin's ministry, was also present for the day.

Mission Conference at Waupun Baptist Church

Our ministry opened the month of March with a Sunday through Wednesday Mission Conference at Waupun Baptist Church. Pastor Robert Love, Sr. is the pastor of this local church. Ministries represented in the conference included Aaron Peterson applicant for ministry in Germany under Baptist World Mission, Julie Smith going to Spain under Baptist International Mission, Inc., Access Women's Center of Madison, and Bearing Precious Seed printing ministry presented by Jim Hoffman.

As the main conference speaker I preached for Sunday School, both services on Sunday and Monday through Wednesday evenings. Carole and I provided special music on Monday night as well. We had faithful attendance each service with many coming for all the services.

Most of the churches of the fellowship are strongly committed to missions through faithful support of individual missionaries. At the same time we have our own mission field right here in Wisconsin through our church planting mission pastors. It is our goal to fulfill the great commission through reaching the world beginning at Jerusalem and extending to the uttermost parts.
