A Visit to Victory Baptist Church in Appleton
Sunday March 28th we visited Victory Baptist Church in Appleton. Ken Griesbach is the pastor of this local ministry. We have had contact in the past with the Griesbach family and more recently with a family from that church. Though the church is not affiliated with the WFBC, Pastor Griesbach gave me an opportunity to share a brief report about our ministry with the churches of Wisconsin. We had a wonderful time of fellowship with the church family and with the Griesbachs following the service at dinner. We praise the Lord for the fundamental Baptist churches that are holding forth "the Word of life" across our state.
Two Church Visits on Sunday
On Sunday March 21st we made two church visits. For the morning services we were at Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood. Rob Love is the pastor of this local church ministry. In addition to their regular Sunday services, they are also working on a couple of up-coming outreach ministry events. Easter Sunday they will be presenting the Easter cantata, "The Centurion." Also they are working on plans for a Saturday Sports Expo in April with the goal of reaching sportsmen in the Greenwood area.
Sunday evening we stopped at First Baptist Church in New Lisbon for their evening service. Delbert Oatsvall is the pastor of this local church. First Baptist Church is the location of the 60th Anniversary Annual Meeting of the WFBC on September 20-21, 2010. Following the service we had a delightful time of fellowship with Del and Kim Oatsvall.
Ordination Council at Bay City Baptist Church
Saturday March 20th I was able to attend an ordination council for Kris Stauff and Ray Anderson, two of the assistants at Bay City. Paul Brown is the pastor of this local ministry and he acted as the moderator of this council. Four area pastors and myself served along with Pastor Brown, Pastor Emeritus Morris Bender and Assistant Pastor Dave Bender who served as the clerk.
Both men presented well-written doctrinal statements and took turns answering questions by the council. Following the questioning the council voted unanimously to recommend to Bay City Baptist Church that they would proceed with ordination. Also the church provided a delicious Saturday evening dinner for the council following its deliberation.
The actual ordination service was held the next day in the Sunday evening service. Praise the Lord for well-trained, faithful men who are serving in the ministry of Christ. We wish them the very best as they serve Him.
Sixtieth Anniversary Celebration at First Baptist in Fort Atkinson
Sunday March 14th was the 60th Anniversary celebration for First Baptist Church in Fort Atkinson. Rod Anderson is the pastor of this local ministry. Former pastor Ron Hoffman and his family were present for the day as was former Assistant Pastor Roy Tellier. Also a good number of former members who have moved away came for the special celebration or sent letters of greeting. A former member also gave a very nice framed, colored line drawing of the church which will be displayed in the church entryway.
A Sunday School challenge was provided by Pastor Randy Hoffman, son of former pastor Ron Hoffman. Randy is currently pastoring Harbor Lights Baptist Church in Ashland, Wisconsin. His wife Leanne and his children were present as well. Former Assistant Pastor Roy Tellier preached for the AM service sharing his personal testimony of being reached by members of First Baptist. He along with his wife Debbie is presently the pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Following a delicious catered dinner I closed out the day speaking in an afternoon service. Carole and I also provided special music for the AM service and she an offertory in the afternoon service.
Praise the Lord for six decades of faithful ministry. It was a special blessing to hear testimonies of many lives who have been touched by the ministry of First Baptist over the past 60 years. It is our prayer that God will give them many more years of effective ministry in the city of Fort Atkinson.

Following the service we enjoyed a delightful time of fellowship with the pastor and his family at a local restaurant. It was a blessing to hear of Pastor Howell's vision for Madison and his desire to see the expansion of Grace's ministry in the greater Madison area.
