Sunday May 13th we were visiting at Shalom Baptist Church which is the newest WFBC church planting ministry. Tom Ebert is the pastor of this local church ministry. Carole was asked to provide assistance with the piano for the service. They continue to reach into the Mequon community for outreach. They gave away potted mums for the mothers who were present for Mother’s Day Sunday. Pray for this ministry as they seek to reach their Jerusalem with the gospel.

On Sunday May 6th we attended the AM Services of Section Eight Baptist Church in Pound. Scott Barker is the pastor of this local church ministry. We enjoyed the fellowship of the congregation for the services. Mr. Don Smith who teaches at the Coleman Christian School taught a Sunday School lesson from the Book of Acts. Pastor Barker preached an excellent message on the raising of Lazarus from the dead in John 11. Following the service we had lunch with the pastor of his family at a local restaurant. It was a blessing to see and hear what God is doing in this local ministry. Pastor Barker has served this church for a total of seventeen years as both an assistant and then as senior pastor. We thank God for faithful pastors who stay in their churches for a period of years.

In addition the church recognized the 75th Wedding Anniversary of the Gale Schafers who were used of the Lord to found the church fifty-five years ago. April is also the 18th anniversary of Pastor Rich and Micki Akins and their ministry at Calvary Baptist.

Pastor and Mrs. Gale Schafer

During Sunday School we viewed a pictorial history of the church followed by a challenge from Joshua by Pastor Akins. I preached for the AM Service out of Acts 20 in the theme, “Finishing the Course with Joy.” At noon the church provided a delicious catered dinner for all who were in attendance in the fellowship hall. In the afternoon a number of present and former members shared testimony of the Lord’s working in their lives through the ministry of Calvary, including Pastor and Mrs. Rod Anderson who served there during their college years. I was able also to share a testimony of the ministry of Calvary Baptist in my life during the two years I was a student at Maranatha College. The church purchased a bus for students to come to Calvary in 1968 and I drove that bus for all the services for the entire school year. Pastor Akins closed the service with a brief challenge.

It was a great day of praise to the Lord for his faithfulness through this local church ministry. Only eternity will reveal the full impact of this local church in the lives of many.

The church honored Pastor and Mrs. Kevin Lawver for their faithfulness and service, as well as the two brothers who were instrumental in the planting of the church. The highlight of the afternoon came when three new members gave their testimonies of salvation, expressing how the Lord had used LBC to bring them to understand the gospel, be saved, and begin to see their lives transformed by His grace. Members and guests enjoyed a video history of the church as they recalled the faithfulness of the Lord. Please continue to pray for Lighthouse Baptist Church to become completely selfsupporting and for many more souls to be reached.

Sunday April 15th we were ministering at Lone Rock Baptist Church in New Lisbon. Ray Anderson is the pastor of this local church ministry. I taught a Sunday School lesson to the men and preached for both the AM and Afternoon Services. Carole was able to minister on the keyboard for a offertory number. At noon the church holds a carry-in dinner every Sunday and we enjoyed great food and fellowship at that time.

The Andersons have had a fruitful ministry at Lone Rock for thirteen years. In addition to faithful pastoral ministry they have worked hard at updating the church building with remodeling and improvements. Lone Rock Baptist Church is a rural church in the country but an important ministry for the people who live in that area. Thank God for faithful pastoral families who are willing to serve in areas of limited potential.

Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hillsboro celebrated its fifth anniversary on April 1st which was exactly five years to the day since the first services. Kevin Lawver is the pastor of this local church ministry. The day included regular Sunday School and AM Service with a dinner at the church and an Anniversary Service at 2:00 PM.

The afternoon service opened with a video presentation of the last five years of ministry in Hillsboro. Several presentations were made during the service. Also three church members shared testimonies of the impact of Lighthouse Baptist Church in their lives. Brief challenges by myself and Pastor Lawver closed out the service which was followed by a fellowship time.

Carole provided musical accompanyment for the services for the day on the keyboard. I taught Sunday School with a lesson on The Model Church out of First Thessalonians chapter one. Also I brought a brief challenge in the afternoon anniversary service. It was a blessing to see the auditorium filled and a great spirit prevailing for the day. Continue to pray for this church plant ministry as they continue reaching into a largely rural area of our state.

On Sunday March 25th we visited Fellowship Baptist Church in Harmony Grove. Eric Hafeli is the pastor of this local church ministry. We had not been in this church since the installation service for Pastor Hafeli. It was good to see some old friends as well as a number of new people. This ministry is extending into a number of communities including: Lodi, Lake Wisconsin, Poinet as well as Harmony Grove. The Hafelis have done an excellent job of working with this largely rural area north of Madison. We thank God for faithful pastors who week in and week out preach the Word and shepherd the flock of God.
