A Visit to Shalom Baptist Church

Sunday May 13th we were visiting at Shalom Baptist Church which is the newest WFBC church planting ministry. Tom Ebert is the pastor of this local church ministry. Carole was asked to provide assistance with the piano for the service. They continue to reach into the Mequon community for outreach. They gave away potted mums for the mothers who were present for Mother’s Day Sunday. Pray for this ministry as they seek to reach their Jerusalem with the gospel.

Fifth Anniversary at Lighthouse Baptist Church

Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hillsboro celebrated its fifth anniversary on April 1st which was exactly five years to the day since the first services. Kevin Lawver is the pastor of this local church ministry. The day included regular Sunday School and AM Service with a dinner at the church and an Anniversary Service at 2:00 PM.

The afternoon service opened with a video presentation of the last five years of ministry in Hillsboro. Several presentations were made during the service. Also three church members shared testimonies of the impact of Lighthouse Baptist Church in their lives. Brief challenges by myself and Pastor Lawver closed out the service which was followed by a fellowship time.

Carole provided musical accompanyment for the services for the day on the keyboard. I taught Sunday School with a lesson on The Model Church out of First Thessalonians chapter one. Also I brought a brief challenge in the afternoon anniversary service. It was a blessing to see the auditorium filled and a great spirit prevailing for the day. Continue to pray for this church plant ministry as they continue reaching into a largely rural area of our state.

Preaching at Bible Baptist Church in Reedsburg

Sunday March 18th we were ministering at Bible Baptist Church in Reedsburg. Scott Buhrow is the pastor of this local church ministry. He has resigned as pastor and will be closing out his ministry by the end of June. Pray for the church as they work through the pastoral search and candidating process.

I taught Sunday School with a lesson on “Knowing the Will of God” and preached for the AM Service. Also Carole provided keyboard assistance and special music for the service as well. Following the fellowship lunch we participated in a brief Afternoon Prayer Service.

Ministry at Shalom Baptist Church in Mequon

Sunday February 26th we were ministering at Shalom Baptist Church in Mequon. Tom Ebert is the pastor of this new church plant which began in October 2011. The church is currently meeting at the Logemann Community Center at 6100 W. Mequon Rd in Mequon. The WFBC and a number of churches are supporting this new ministry.

I taught Sunday School including a presentation of our ministry and preached for the AM Service. We enjoyed a great time of fellowship with the church family. The Eberts were gone while ministering in a missions conference out of state. Pray for this new work that God would open doors of ministry to families in the Mequon area.

Preaching at Berean Baptist Church in Manitowoc

Sunday January 22nd we were ministering at Berean Baptist Church in Manitowoc. Bill Lobb is the pastor of this local church ministry. Due to the death of Brother Lobb’s father, he and his family were attending memorial services in Minnesota. Pastor Lobb’s father had been active in ministry, but was taken in death quite suddenly last week. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

I taught a Sunday School lesson on the doctrine of the inspiration of Scripture with many practical lessons. Since it was the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the abortion holocaust, I preached a message on the Sanctity of Life. I also preached for the evening service as well. Our prayers are with the Lobb family at this time.

Visit at Grace Baptist in Sheboygan Falls

On Sunday January 15th we visited at Grace Baptist Church in Sheboygan Falls. Rob Cronin is serving as an interim pastor helping the church go forward while they seek God’s man. They are meeting at the Holiday Inn Express on Interstate 43 at the Hwy 28 exit. Following Sunday School they had their morning service. At that service I was able to present a brief report of the ministry of the WFBC. After the services the church family moved to a local nursing home for an afternoon service.

Grace Baptist is in the process of recovering from a loss of membership and their building under the direction of a former pastor. The congregation meeting on Sunday seem to be unified and committed to progress toward a pastor and a permanent location for their ministry. Pray for Grace as they seek God’s will and direction for their future ministry.

Pastoral Installation Service at Spooner Baptist Church

Sunday afternoon January 8th we drove from Hudson to Spooner to be a part of the installation service for their new pastor, Darrel Flaming. Brother Flaming comes back to Wisconsin after recent ministries in Northern Indiana and Western Kansas. Darrel and Terri Flaming began their ministry in Spooner the first Sunday of December.

The Installation Service included music with several hymns and special music by Pastor Flaming. The chairman of the deacons brought a charge to the pastor challenging him to faithful ministry as God’s shepherd. I preached a charge to both the church and the pastor from I Thessalonians 5. The service closed with a prayer of dedication and a laying on of hands by the deacons and several pastors who were present. Following the service there was a fellowship time. Pray for the Flamings as they provide pastoral leadership for Spooner Baptist Church.

Visit at Lakewood Baptist Church in Delafield

Sunday January 1st we we visited the Lakewood Baptist Church in Delafield which is one of our WFBC church plants, started in 2009. Dave Marriott is the pastor of this local church ministry. There was a good crowd present for the service despite the holiday Sunday. Pastor Marriott preached on the Lord Jesus Christ as our creator from Colossians 1. Following the service we enjoyed a great time of fellowship over dinner with Pastor Marriott and his wife Emiley.

Lakewood Baptist Church has gone off financial support from the WFBC as of January 1st. They have established a strong congregation with attendances averaging about 200. They have the need of a permanent location, as they are currently meeting at the Cushing Elementary School. Pray for them regarding a building or land for building in the Delafield area.

Visit at Cottge Grove Baptist Church

Sunday December 4th we were visiting at Cottage Grove Baptist Church. Josh McAusland is the new pastor of this local church ministry. We were able to be there for both Sunday School and the AM Service. Following the service we had a nice dinner with the McAuslands as a local restaurant. That provided an opportunity to us to talk over their ministry. We were instrumental in the founding of Cottage Grove Baptist Church eleven years ago while I was pastoring at Rock Lake Baptist Church in Lake Mills. Pray for this ministry that they would be able to have a vital outreach in Cottage Grove and in the greater Madison area.

Sunday November 20th we visited at the newest church plant of the WFBC. Tom Ebert is the pastor of this new work that started holding regular services October 16th. Pastor Ebert asked me to share a brief report of the ministry of the WFBC during the service. Following the morning service they provided a soup and pie fellowship for all who were present for the service. It was a blessing to see a number of families attending this new church plant. Pray for contacts in the Mequon area as they seek to reach that community with the gospel.
