We enjoyed a great time of ministry at Stoughton Baptist Church on Sunday morning, February 12th. Stoughton Baptist is pastored by Phil Mikkelson who has been serving as pastor there for fifteen years. During the Sunday School hour we were able to share the work of the WFBC as well as give a Bible lesson on ministry. Also I had the privilege of preaching in the morning service. Stoughton Baptist is a special church for my wife, Carole, as she served there during her college years at Maranatha College. We had a delightful time of ministry in this great church.
Following the service we had a wonderful dinner at the parsonage with Phil, Diane and their son Joel, who was visiting for the week. Joel is currently serving in a local church ministry in Santa Maria, California. It was good to spend the afternoon fellowshipping with the Mikkelsons, as we were college classmates.
You might remember last summer that the Stoughton area was struck by a tornado. There was some damage to the church, though not extensive. However a number of houses close by were destroyed and one of the church families had their entire house destroyed by that storm. The area is recovering and damaged houses are being repaired and rebuilt. Thank the Lord for his mercy.
