Pastor Clyde and Linda Ewers celebrated twenty years of ministry at Ambassador Baptist Church in Sparta on Sunday, October 1st. Actually this church is about six miles east of Sparta on Hwy 16 and is a rural church. However, they are located close to the south gate of Fort McCoy and so they have had an impact on families stationed there. During the Ewers ministry at Ambassador they have directed Camp Jubilee on the church property as well as doing extensive building, including the current church auditorium.
Pastor Jim Stevens preached for the day’s services and is holding meetings at Ambassador Baptist the entire week. The Stevens and the Ewers were previously in involved in a church in the southern part of the state many years ago. Brother Stevens preached on Elijah the Old Testament prophet on Sunday which he planned to continue through the entire week.
We were there for the evening service, and though I did not preach, I had an opportunity to bring a greeting from the WFBC and share in the service. Following the morning service they had a church dinner and open house and following the evening service those present enjoyed a beautiful decorated cake with a picture of the Ewers on it. The day and the week are a fitting tribute to the ministry of this faithful couple.
