About eighty pastors and wives gathered at scenic Camp Chetek for the annual Pastors and Wives Retreat on Monday and Tuesday, February 19-20th. The weather cooperated with moderated temperatures and the warmth inside was a real blessing as well. The 24-hour retreat allowed time for challenge, discusssion, fellowship, food and even some sleep.
Dr. Les Olilla, chancelor of Northland Baptist Bible College spoke on the subject “Ministering in the Mountains and Valleys.” Each of the four messages were challenging and provided spiritual and practical encouragement for those present. We also enjoyed having Dr. Olilla’s wife Charlene with us as well. Music Evangelist Doug Lowrey and his wife Donna were able to attend and provided several musical specials along with several of the pastors as well.
The camp staff under the leadership of Pastor Randy Tanis did a great job of providing delicious meals and comfortable surroundings for all who attended. Having the retreat at a camp was a change from the past where these events have been hosted in a local church. Your imput to your area representative would enable us to evaluate this idea for possible future retreats.
Next year’s retreat will be held February 18-19, 2008 at Twin City Baptist Church in Marinette under the leadership of Pastor Matt DeCleene. Put those dates on your calendar and plan now to attend, so that you will not miss another great time of fellowship.
