Preaching at Hurley and Ashland

Two and one half years ago Pastor Kevin Holland began Havenwood Baptist Church in Hurley. He purchased a building and gathered a group of believers together in regular services. Several of the families coming were coming from another city about 40 minutes west in Ashland. In May of 2006 Pastor Holland began Harbor Lights Baptist Church in Ashland. Since that time he has been pastoring both churches with coordinated services on Sundays.

May 27th Carole and I were able to experience the challenge of ministering in two churches for all services on a single Sunday (a job which the Hollands do each week). We provided special music and Carole was able to accompany the services. I preached both AM and PM services in both churches. We enjoyed a delicious pot luck dinner at Harbor Lights Baptist in Ashland.

It is a blessing to see what God is doing in these northwood’s communities. While starting works in these towns is challenging, the people living there need a local church too. Pray for the Hollands as they continue to travel about 75 miles every Sunday to minister to two new congregations. We thank God for their willingness to serve in this way.
