On Saturday June 16th we left Wisconsin for the east coast for the next week. Our first stop was our son Ben and his wife Shannan and their two sons, Nick and Logan. They live in Quakertown, PA and are involved members at Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville. After attending the AM service Carole and I taught in their Adult Bible Fellowship (Sunday School for those in Rio Linda). Carole spoke to the ladies and I challenged the men about personal ministry for Christ.
Monday and Tuesday I will be participating in the annual board meeting of the Baptist Church Planting Minsitry under the leadership of Dr. Earl Jessup. BCPM was begun in 1993 by Dr. Jessup to assist local churches in planting churches. In the past 14 years they have been able to directly help over 90 churches to be planted with many other churches being started indirectly by other churches as an outgrowth of this ministry. This ministry is international with most churches being in the USA and Canada, but also including Australia, France, Scotland and some other places.
Also We encourage your prayers for Dr. Jessup at this time. He fell from a ladder a couple of weeks ago and has suffered serious injury, including a broken back, broken collar bone, cerebral bleeding, a punctured lung and other problems. He is recovering but is in a back brace and suffering quite a bit of pain.
On Wednesday we will be traveling to Rocky Mount, NC to visit our friends and mentors Gerry and Connie Carlson. They serve in the ministry of ProTeens after pastoring and working with the American Association of Christian Schools for many years. Our first four years of marriage we served under the ministry of the Carlsons at Faith Baptist Church in St. Paul as assistant pastor. We thank God for the impact they made on our lives and ministry.
Thursday and Friday we will be participating in the wedding of Pastor Brad Anderson in Greenville, SC. Pastor Anderson currently pastors the Liberty Baptist Church in Antigo, WI. He will be married to Maya Collins on Friday evening June 22nd at the Hampton Park Baptist Church in Greenville. Following their honeymoon, the Andersons will be coming to Antigo to continue Pastor Anderson’s ministry there. Pastor Anderson served as our youth pastor at Rock Lake Baptist Church in Lake Mills for four years while he attended Maranatha College. He lived in our home during most of that time and so we consider him an adopted member of the family.
On Saturday June 23rd (our 35th Wedding Anniversary) we will be driving back to Wisconsin to preach at the East Delavan Baptist Church in Delavan, WI for the AM service. Pastor Steve Hollenbeck will be unable to speak as he will be recovering from major surgery.
Pastor Steve Hollenbeck, Pastor at East Delavan will be undergoing thyroid surgery on June 19th. Pray for a good outcome and full recovery.
Pray for safety and a fruitful time of ministry as we have opportunities to serve along the way. Many folks ask us if we like to travel. Obviously we must travel for our ministry statewide. Sometimes we do get weary of the road, but for the most part we enjoy the ministry (including travel) that God has given us.
