This summer Faith Baptist Church of Madison under the pastoral leadership of Mike Mayhak merged with the Deforest Baptist Church. The Mayhaks began Faith Baptist on the north side of Madison five years ago in September of 2002 and have been meeting at the Warner Park Recreation Center. With the merger Faith Baptist has begun holding services at the building in Deforest.
Pastor Mayhak used the “Phones for You” dial-up program to begin the ministry in Madison, and this summer he used that program to make dial-ups in the Deforest area. September 16th, one day after the 5th anniversary of Faith Baptist the church held its celebration service at the church building site in Deforest. There were over sixty people present for the service including some families from Madison and a number of contacts from the Deforest area. There were at least eighteen visitors that day.
While there are some challenges ahead for this ministry, we praise God that he has provided a permanent location for their church. It is about nine miles north of their previous meeting place, making it possible for Madison families reached during the past five years to attend as well as providing a new area of outreach in Deforest. Pray for Pastor Mayhak and the folks of Faith Baptist Church as they work through this transitional period.
