Forty-fifth Anniversary at First Baptist in Hartford

First Baptist Church of Hartford celebrated their 45th Church Anniversary on Sunday, October 19th. Pastor Mike Gordon is the pastor of this church, having served as the second pastor for the past 35 years. Retired pastor, Robert Johnson served as pastor the first ten of years of this church’s history.

On Sunday Pastor Robert Johnson taught the Sunday School providing a biblical challenge based upon key historical events from the history of First Baptist Church. Dr. David Cummins, Deputation Director of Baptist World Mission and former Wisconsin pastor, spoke in the morning and afternoon services. Following the morning service the church provided a wonderful dinner for all in attendance. The afternoon program included musical selections from the Strings of Praise ensemble from Maranatha Baptist Bible College, my personal greeting from the WFBC, a message from Dr. Cummins and a cake fellowship.

In 1963 former State Mission Director of the WFBC, George Cable, was pastoring at a new church he had started, First Baptist Church in West Bend. Some families from Hartford expressed an interest in starting a church in Hartford at that time. He assisted them in that church plant and Pastor Johnson became the first pastor.

Today First Baptist Church is a growing ministry reaching people in the Hartford area. Recent additions to the church have required the adding of seating in the former overflow area of the auditorium. We rejoice with the First Baptist on this special occasion and upon the ongoing evidence of God’s blessing.
