Despite a strong winter storm that blew across our state on Feb. 20-21, those who attended the annual WFBC Pastors and Wives Retreat enjoyed a great time of relaxation, fellowship and spiritual challenge. East Delavan Baptist Church did a great job of organizing and hosting the retreat. Fifty-seven pastors and wives attended the two-day event and all enjoyed a great time of fellowship.
Dr. Marty Marriott, president of Maranatha Baptist Bible College, preached four challenging messages from the Word of God on the theme “Addicted to the Ministry.” In addition men and ladies enjoyed separate sessions on Tuesday morning when Dr. Marriott fielded questions about challenges to pastoral ministry, and Mrs. Marriott spoke to the ladies prior to a craft time. Special music at all the sessions included a concert by the Victorious Brass on Monday evening and two numbers by a Pastors’ Ensemble.

As usual, food was an important part of the retreat, with East Delavan serving a delicious supper. Coffee fellowships were provided by Greendale Baptist, Calvary Baptist in Jefferson and Faith Baptist in Beloit, giving those present some quality time of fellowship around the table. Next year’s retreat will be hosted by Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta on February 20-21, 2012.
