Sunday October 7th we were ministering at Harbor Lights Baptist Church in Ashland. Randall Hoffman is the pastor of this local church ministry, and the Hoffmans were vacationing down south. Carole provided musical ministry on the keyboard along with a special number. I taught Sunday School and preached for both the AM and Afternoon Services, as well as presenting our ministry DVD. There were a number of visitors giving us a nearly full attendance for the morning service. Following the service we enjoyed a delicious carry-in dinner in the fellowship hall.
Harbor Lights Baptist Church was started as a spin-off of Havenwood Baptist Church in Hurley by Pastor Kevin Holland. After the core families from the church were driving the forty miles to Hurley for a period of time, Pastor Holland began holding services in Ashland with those families. As a result the church was started so that both Hurley and Ashland churches are growing and developing a core constituency.
During the weekend we enjoyed the Apple Festival in Bayfield about 25 miles from Ashland. According to some this is one of the premier festivals in the country. Also we had our first encounter with snow on Friday evening and on Saturday as well. Praise the Lord it was only flurries, but it was a warning of things to come. The leaves were beautiful throughout our trip north providing a number of gorgeous scenes. We love to travel across this beautiful state in all of the four seasons (as long as it doesn’t get too nasty in the Winter).
