First Baptist Church of Hartford Celebrates 50 Years

We had the privilege of sharing in the 50th Anniversary of the First Baptist Church of Hartford. Mike Gordon is the pastor of this local church ministry. He has faithfully served as pastor for forty of those fifty years.

Pastor Jack Kaetterhenry grew up at First Baptist Church and he currently serves as pastor of Wild Rose Baptist Church. Brother Kaetterhenry spoke during the Sunday School hour showing a media presentation entitled a Child’s View of First Baptist Church with pictures and memorabilia from his early years and closing with a bible challenge. Pastor Gordon preached for the AM Service with special music by the church choir and a men’s ensemble. Following the AM Service the church provided a delicious buffet dinner for all who were present, with serving lines in the basement fellowship hall and a large tent beside the parsonage. At 3:00 PM the there was an Afternoon Service with special music by the church choir and by a ladies ensemble. I preached a message from I Thessalonians on the “Model Church.” A reception followed the afternoon service in the fellowship hall and the tent.

There were a number of former members present for the day. Pastor Gordon shared several written greetings from some who were unable to be present, including Pastor George Cable who was the WFBC Mission Director at that time and instrumental in the founding of the church. Pastor Bob Johnson who served the church as pastor during the first ten years was present, and he and his wife, Joan were honored with a plaque and gifts. Also several former and currently deacons were recognized and given gifts as well.

It was a wonderful day of celebration to the honor of our blessed Lord. First Baptist Church is a demonstration of the continuing fruit of ministry of the WFBC over the past sixty years.
