Ministry at First Baptist Church

Sunday November 2nd we were ministering at First Baptist Church in Waupaca. Currently First Baptist Church is without a pastor. On Sunday I preached for both the AM and PM Services. During the evening service I presented our DVD sharing our ministry to the churches of Wisconsin. In the afternoon we enjoyed a delightful time with former WFBC Director, Leon Leeds, with is wife Bertie, who are members at First Baptist.

First Baptist Church has a significant part in the founding ministry of the WFBC. The first meeting which set the stage for the forming of what was to become the WFBC was held in January of 1950 at First Baptist Church. Eighteen pastors and wives met for two days and formed the Conservative Baptist Association of Wisconsin which later become the Wisconsin Fellowship of Baptist Churches. Following this initiatory meeting the first annual meeting was held in September 1950 at First Baptist Church of New Lisbon. The rest is history.

Former pastor of First Baptist Church, Larry Gross, stepped down from this position, effective October 31, 2013. He served in that position for a period of 27 years. Previous to taking the senior pastor position Brother Gross had served as the Assistant Pastor at First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leon Leeds. We thank God for solid local churches like First Baptist Church which has served its community with the gospel 150 years.
