Sunday October 5th the Havenwood Baptist Church of Hurley celebrated ten years of ministry in that community. Steve Newman is the pastor of this local church ministry. The founding pastor, Kevin Holland, also was able to attend with his family for the day.
Carole ministered with an offertory number during the service. I brought a message during Sunday School related to the joy of ministry that Paul expressed to the Ephesian elders in Acts 20. Pastor Holland preached for the AM Service. Following a carry-in dinner at the church there was a testimony service. In that service Pastor Holland shared his memories of the founding days of the church. Also a number of members give their impressions and Pastor Newman shared a brief challenge to close out the afternoon service.
Two area churches came for the afternoon service. Pastor Randy Hoffman of Harbor Lights Baptist Church in Ashland was there with his family and two other families from his church. Also Pastor Michael Riley of Calvary Baptist Church of Wakefield, Michigan came with his family and several folks from his church. This testimony time was a special blessing to folks from Harbor Lights Baptist Church, since Pastor Holland started the Ashland church while at Havenwood, pastoring both churches at the same time. It was a wonderful time of celebration and blessing.
